رایج و روزمره. واژهای گستردهتر است و میتواند به هر علامت یا نشانهای اشاره کند. فقط در صورتی قابل جایگزینی است که بافت جمله به وضوح به چراغ راهنمایی دلالت داشته باشد.
Common, everyday. Broader term, can refer to any sign or indication. Only interchangeable if the context clearly implies a traffic light. 'The signal turned red' works, 'The traffic light turned red' works. 'Signal' can also mean a radio signal or a gesture.
