رسمی/ادبی. داستانی ساده که برای توضیح یک درس اخلاقی یا معنوی استفاده میشود، اغلب از متون مذهبی. 'Parable' معمولاً شامل شخصیتهای انسانی و مضامین جدیتر از 'fable' است. 'مَثَل سامری نیکوکار' صحیح است.
Formal/literary. A simple story used to illustrate a moral or spiritual lesson, often from religious texts. 'Parable' usually involves human characters and more serious themes than a 'fable'. 'The parable of the good Samaritan' works.
ادبی. داستان، شعر یا تصویری که میتواند برای آشکار کردن معنایی پنهان، معمولاً اخلاقی یا سیاسی، تفسیر شود. 'Allegory' معمولاً طولانیتر و پیچیدهتر از 'fable' است و شخصیتهای آن اغلب نمادی از مفاهیم انتزاعی هستند. 'مزرعه حیوانات تمثیلی از انقلاب روسیه است' صحیح است.
Literary. A story, poem, or picture that can be interpreted to reveal a hidden meaning, typically a moral or political one. 'Allegory' is generally longer and more complex than a 'fable' and its characters are often symbolic representations of abstract concepts. 'Animal Farm is an allegory for the Russian Revolution' works.
