رایج. اغلب قابل جایگزینی، ولی 'ناامید کردن' احساس قویتری از ناامیدی دارد؛ 'نتوانستن تأثیر گذاشتن' خنثیتر و رسمیتر است. مثلا «فیلم من را ناامید کرد» در مقابل «فیلم نتوانست منتقدان را تحت تأثیر قرار دهد.»
Common. Often interchangeable, but 'disappoint' can express a stronger feeling of letdown; 'fail to impress' is more neutral and formal. E.g., 'The movie disappointed me' vs. 'The movie failed to impress critics.'
