تفاوت با واژههای مشابه
فنی/رایج. به تخریب تدریجی یک ماده (معمولاً فلز) بر اثر واکنش شیمیایی با محیط آن اشاره دارد. هر خوردگی نوعی اکسیداسیون است، اما هر اکسیداسیونی خوردگی نیست. 'Acid corrodes metal' صحیح است، 'Acid oxidizes metal' نیز درست است.
Technical/common. Refers to the gradual destruction of a material (usually a metal) by chemical reaction with its environment. All corrosion is a form of oxidation, but not all oxidation is corrosion. 'Acid corrodes metal' works, 'Acid oxidizes metal' is also true.
