Feeling or showing deep remorse or sorrow for a wrongdoing.

تفاوت با واژههای مشابه
رسمی. وقتی پشیمانی واقعی باشد جایگزین contrite است؛ هر دو در موقعیتهای جدی کاربرد دارند.
Formal. Interchangeable with contrite when describing sincere regret for wrongdoing; 'remorseful apology' and 'contrite apology' both work in serious contexts.
رسمی/مذهبی. بیشتر در زمینههای اخلاقی و دینی به کار میرود؛ در این موارد جایگزین contrite میشود اما در محاوره معمولی خیر.
Formal/religious. Used especially with moral or religious contexts of regret; can replace contrite in such contexts but not in everyday speech.
