رسمی/روزمره. اصطلاحی گستردهتر. همه کارآگاهان محقق هستند، اما همه محققان کارآگاه پلیس نیستند. 'یک محقق خصوصی' قابل قبول است. وقتی تمرکز بر عمل تحقیق باشد، قابل تعویض است.
Formal/everyday. Broader term. All detectives are investigators, but not all investigators are police detectives. 'A private investigator' works. Can be interchangeable when the focus is on the act of investigation.
