Formal. Refers to people who are connected with an organization, usually in a less formal or official capacity than a full 'member'. 'Associates' might not have full voting rights or benefits that 'members' do. 'He is an associate of the firm' implies a different level of belonging than 'He is a member of the firm'.

Formal/Political. People who are part of a group and have the right to vote or are represented by someone. 'Constituents' are often 'members' of a broader political body. 'Members of parliament serve their constituents' means they represent the people who elected them.

Common. A very general term for any piece that, with others, makes up a whole. 'Parts of a puzzle' or 'body parts'. While 'members' can mean 'parts' in a formal sense (e.g., 'the members of a structure'), 'parts' is much broader and more frequent for general usage.
