رسمی. بیشتر به کنارهگیری از مقام اشاره دارد، کمتر به ترک فیزیکی. مثلاً 'abdicate the throne' مناسب است؛ 'desert the post' متفاوت است.
Formal. Usually refers to renouncing a throne or position, less physical abandonment than desertion. 'Abdicate the throne' works; 'desert the post' is different in context.
